Volvo helps truckers save horsepower and money with the I-Shift Transmission

According to a story on E-Trucker, Volvo has announced that next year the Volvo I-Shift, an automated mechanical transmission, will be available North America.

The I-Shift transmission is equipped with sensors designed to maximize fuel economy during shifts and “Eco-Roll”, which saves horsepower when driving down hills by allowing the engine to idle.

Another important I-Shift feature is an Idle Governor mode that allows a truck to move slowly in traffic without using the accelerator.

The I-Shift is the latest automatic transmission for trucks. But other truck models have automatic transmission to help a driver focus on the road instead of shifting gears. Check them out on Truck Trader Online.
