Virtual reality trains truckers to be better drivers

Truck driving is not a game. When drivers are behind the wheel of a big rig, sharp driving skills and reflexes can make the difference in preventing accidents.

Tuscaloosanews.com reports that new virtual reality simulators are now training truckers to be better drivers, using 3D graphics and motion simulators to teach driving skill to protect their lives and their cargo.

While video gamers are excited about the Sony Playstation 3 or the Nintendo Wii, businesses as diverse as oil drilling and truck driving are using virtual reality simulators that would have any gaming freak drooling.

The simulators use 3D video images to immerse users in realistic environments.

Have you tried one of the trucking simulators? What did you learn from using a simulator? Does your company use trucking simulators to train drivers? Leave a comment and tell us your story.
