What Makes A Truck Driver An Experienced Truck Driver

Truck driver Jason Cox has written an story for Examiner.com asking what makes a truck driver an experienced driver?

The question comes from a conversation on Twitter between two truck drivers and the experience needed to haul hazardous materials.

Is experience measured only in years on the road only, or some truck drivers just have a natural talent for driving that sets them apart?

You can read more of Jason's stories on his home page or follow him on Twitter.

Bexar County’s Kenworth T370 hybrids are powered by PACCAR PX-6 engines rated at 260hp and 620 lb-ft of torque, and the Eaton diesel-electric hybrid power system. The trucks use an integral transmission-mounted motor/generator; frame-mounted 340-volt, lithium-ion battery pack; and dedicated power management system. The power takeoff (PTO) for the dump is run off the main engine.

Electricity generated through regenerative braking is stored and used for acceleration, assisting the diesel engine. The hybrid system is monitored through an in-dash display. As the power requirements for different driving conditions change, the screen constantly updates the driver on system status.
