According to Kenworth, the system combines an interior, windshield-mounted video camera with vision software to help promote enhanced driver awareness and attention to turn signal usage by sending audio alert notifications of inadvertent lane departures to the driver.
Takata SafeTraK 3, which is compatible with the standard J1939 wiring system, fully integrates camera, optics, processor and power supply into a compact unit. Kenworth factory installation includes the unit, wiring harness, two headliner-mounted speakers, dash-mounted rocker switch and system status lamp, and driver’s guide for the glove box. A pre-wire option is also available.
Takata SafeTraK 3 must be specified with an EPA 2007 or EPA 2010 engine and Kenworth’s optional curved, one-piece windshield. The system also is available as an option for the Kenworth T660 and Kenworth T800.
