Sterling Truck Corporation, a leading manufacturer of Class 3-8 trucks, has reached a significant milestone as its 250,000th truck - a Sterling Set-Back 113-inch BBC A-Line - rolled off the production line.
To mark the occasion, Sterling Trucks presented executives from Con-way Freight with the keys and a plaque during a special ceremony held at Sterling Trucks' manufacturing plant in St. Thomas, Ontario, on June 10, 2008.
Con-way Freight, one of the nation's leading less-than-truckload (LTL) freight transportation companies and a subsidiary of Con-way Inc., has been a Sterling Trucks customer for more than 10 years. The company currently owns more than 7,200 Sterling trucks, including the Sterling Acterra, A-Line and L-Line models.
"We wanted to use this special occasion to also say thank you to Con-way for its long-term commitment to Sterling Trucks," said Richard Saward, vice president of sales for Sterling Trucks. "We continually strive to prove to Con-way that Sterling Trucks is synonymous with designing, building and delivering trucks that are ready to work, all day, every day."

Class 8 Truck Sales Up In April 2008
According to TheTrucker.com, Ward’s Automotive reports new heavy-duty truck sales were up 15 percent in April compared to March. This is the third consecutive month truck sales have improved in 2008.Truck sales still suffer from economic worries and the impact of high fuel prices. Analysts and truck manufacturers expect that sales should pick up near the end of this year and through 2009.
New truck standards for 2010 should help sales, but the economy is still the strongest factor to encourage or hinder new truck purchases.

Cleaner trucks could mean more truck sales
PressTelegram.com reports that the demand for cleaner trucks is changing how trucks are sold and could boost business for truck dealers and manufacturers.
Drivers and buyers are asking more questions about emission controls on new trucks. New regulations on truck pollution went into effect this year. Manufacturers have introduced new pollution control systems on new trucks to comply.
Economists predict that the replacement of older trucks could cost as much as $1.5 billion. Government grants could help defer some of the costs.
